Using Solly AI
Solly AI is a Beta feature for interacting with the Solace documentation.
Solly AI is an interface that uses generative AI to answer Solace product-related questions. You can use Solly AI as a complement to our on-site Search to find answers about Solace products. Before you use Solly AI, ensure that you review our Disclaimer. It's important to remember that answers generated by AI can be wrong. Always check the source pages where the answer came from.
Solly AI uses the latest documentation set available from this website. If you are looking for information about past versions of the product, Solly AI cannot provide you information about what has changed, nor information about past documentation sets.
Starting a Conversation
To use Solly AI, type a question in the Write your question box near the bottom of the page and click Send
.
You can enter questions such as:
- What are the default SEMP ports for an appliance event broker?
- How do you configure distributed tracing in Solace Cloud?
You can then ask follow-up questions during your conversation to refine the answers. When you are ready to start a new conversation about a different topic, click New Chat.
At times, if our Solly AI service is busy with a high number of requests, you may see this error:
An error occurred while processing your request, please try again later.
If this problem continues, please contact us. See Providing Feedback for Solly AI.
Tips for Using Solly AI
The following tips help you have an optimal experience using Solly AI:
-
If it's unclear which event broker you would like instructions for, Solly AI responds with a question to clarify the event broker type. You can provide one of the following responses to help Solly AI give you a better answer:
-
appliances, for appliance event brokers
-
software, for software event brokers
-
cloud, for event broker services.
To help Solly AI to understand your question better, include the type of event broker as part of your question.
-
-
Solly AI remembers questions asked in your current conversation, allowing you to ask follow-up questions to refine the answers. Questions are remembered to build more context to generate a response. If you want to start a new set of questions, we recommend that you click New Chat so that Solly AI doesn't confuse your new question with previously asked questions.
-
Always go to the source of the information on the Solace documentation site to verify the facts, especially if you are following procedures. Responses from Solly AI return direct links to the source of the information.
-
Never provide sensitive information to Solly AI. As mentioned in our Disclaimer, conversations and logs may be stored and reviewed.
-
Ask specific questions for more accurate and useful answers. Broad, open-ended questions often do not provide useful answers.
-
Solly AI is designed to help you with questions about Solace products. Solly AI might misunderstand your questions or answer unrelated questions. If this happens, try rephrasing your question or providing more context. If it answers unrelated questions, let us know so that Solly AI can be improved.
-
Do not put presumptions into your question, especially if you are uncertain about the information. Generative AI technology, including Solly AI, is designed to be helpful and avoids directly contradicting users. As a result, it attempts to provide an answer, even when it's unsure about a topic, which can lead to plausible-sounding but often incorrect responses. Please ensure that you have reviewed our Disclaimer about this Beta feature.
For example, the question "Can you tell me how to change ABC port on a Solace event broker?" might not trigger recognition that the ABC port is unsupported. As a result, Solly AI might provide a response describing how to change the ABC port. Instead, you can ask, "Do event brokers support the ABC port?" and the response would more likely clarify that the ABC port is not supported, avoiding a misleading and irrelevant answer about how to change it.
Understanding Context Limits
As your conversation with Solly AI becomes longer, you may see a context usage notification appear near the input box. This notification helps you understand how much of the conversation history is being used to maintain context for generating responses.
Solly AI is designed to help you get to the right source of information. When conversations become very long, older messages are dropped to make room for new ones, which can impact the response accuracy.
If you see a warning or caution about context usage as shown below, we recommend that you click New Chat to start a new conversation.
This recommendation ensures you get more accurate responses for your questions. If you experience any issues with context limits or response quality, let us know your use case and how we can improve your experience. See Providing Feedback for Solly AI.
Troubleshooting Solly AI
The following tips help you resolve common issues with Solly AI:

Using Recent Chats
Recent Chats allows you to keep a record of your previous conversations with Solly AI for easy reference and follow-up. You can view, rename, and delete your recent chats from the sidebar.
Recent chats are stored locally in your browser and are available only on the device and browser where they were created. If you clear your browser data or access Solly AI from a different browser or device, your recent chats do not appear.
Your conversations and system logs may be collected and reviewed by Solace for troubleshooting and performance improvement purposes. Do not share sensitive, confidential, or personal information when you use Solly AI. For more information, see our Disclaimer.
- Saving and Accessing Chats—Each conversation is automatically saved in your browser. You can access your recent chats in the sidebar. Clicking a chat reloads that conversation.
- Renaming Chats—Click More Actions
next to the chat you want to rename, and then select Rename. Enter a new name (maximum 50 characters), and click OK. - Deleting Chats—Click More Actions
next to the chat you want to delete, and then select Delete. When prompted, confirm the deletion. Deleted chats cannot be recovered.
Using Suggested Prompts
Suggested prompts provide quick access to common questions about Solace products. When you start a new conversation, you'll see a set of prompt buttons below the welcome message.
To use a suggested prompt, simply click on any of the buttons. The question will be sent automatically and Solly AI will provide an answer.
When you send your first question (either by clicking a prompt or typing your own), a saved chat is automatically created for you. You can continue the conversation and ask follow-up questions in the same chat. You can rename the saved conversation to make it easier to find later. If you don't want to keep the chat, delete it from your Recent Chats.
