Maintaining Your Event Broker Services

The event broker services in PubSub+ Cloud run on top of software event brokers. Periodically, new versions of the software event brokers are released and are made available for use in PubSub+ Cloud. PubSub+ Cloud follows a defined process for making new versions of software event brokers available. For details, see Version Adoption in PubSub+ Cloud.

The version adoption process determines the versions of the software event broker to which you can upgrade your event broker services. Upgrading to a newer version of the software event broker allows you to adopt new features and to modernize your event broker services. You must periodically upgrade your event broker services to stay current. For more information about why and how to upgrade, see Upgrading Event Broker Services in PubSub+ Cloud.

Different versions of the software event broker also have different support timelines in PubSub+ Cloud. These dates may influence the timing of your upgrades. To review the support dates, see the Support Dates for Release Versions page. For a summary of the different broker versions supported in PubSub+ Cloud, see Software Event Broker Versions and Support in PubSub+ Cloud.

In addition to upgrading, you can also upscale your event broker services to provide more resources to your messaging applications. To learn more about upscaling, see Upscaling Event Broker Services.

Backing up event broker services and messaging is the responsibility of the customer. To learn about backing up event broker services in PubSub+ Cloud, see Backing Up Event Broker Services.
